Henriette is one month old! It’s been a full month: we’ve had a weekend with Nana Yvonne, a weekend with Papa Tim and Granny Joette, a week with Grandma Eunice, a few days with Auntie Ashlee, and lots of adventures in between.
In an effort to get out of the house, we’ve gone out to eat with Henriette in her car seat a handful of times. With Papa Tim and Granny Joette, we went to Rock Mountain National Park, and with Grandma Eunice, we managed to snag a couple of hikes in and around Red Rocks valley. We also took a trip last Friday up to Chattaqua, where we hiked the arches loop.
On top of our more adventurous outings, we’ve been walking around the neighborhood, admiring Edgewater. We love our new home.
As you can see in the photos, we’ve mustered up the energy to have a couple of gatherings. On Cinco de Mayo, we had a full house and plenty of good food, and last Friday night, we had our usual pizza night. We’ve had friends over to meet Henriette, and with so many friends and family staying with us, we’ve been treated to a boatload of tasty food.
Thankfully, our nerves are starting to relax, and we’ve really had a chance to enjoy Henriette. Overall, she’s a happy, calm baby, but she has had a couple of 24 hour stretches where she’s been quite upset. These coincide with Henriette’s longer stretches without pooping, and they usually subside once she’s able to squeeze it all out :) Nursing has been an epic undertaking, and although we are thoroughly committed, we’ve had a number of set-backs, including jaundice, thrush, soreness, clogged Montgomery glands, wrestling, tearing off, and the perpetual nip-and-napper. It’s been pretty painful for the majority of the first month, and while it’s getting better, we still have our struggles. Thankfully, Henriette is looking alert and chubby, so it appears to be working :)
A couple of weekends ago, we celebrated my 26th birthday with brunch at Duo. The P’s spoiled us by picking up the bill, and afterwards, we napped and revived ourselves for another glorious meal prepared by my rockstar husband: pecan and beet salad with blackberry cobbler for dessert. It was fun to get dressed up in my old clothes :)
What else? Last night, Henriette slept for two 3 hour stretches, and I was able to sleep as well – hooray!
